Data Analyst

The Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Data Analyst to join the Radiation and Analytics Team. The incumbent will work under the Manager, Program Development and Strategic Partnerships and collaboratively with the RMP Data Analytics Lead, bringing their expertise in analysis, communication, and problem-solving to understand the needs of the department.

The principal responsibilities include: analysis, interpretation, and reporting of information; data analysis using tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, etc; reviewing historical reports and creating up-to-date documentation; proposing new and unique ideas to approach reporting and/or data visualization; communicating with internal and external stakeholders; an interest in project management techniques and their application; and performing administrative/coordination activities, as required.

This role will focus on gathering information from a variety of stakeholders to understand the data needs, landscape, and possibilities and using sound logic, developing wireframes for routine reporting and dashboards. The incumbent will need to be a clear and effective communicator, open to iterative design and feedback.

Duties

  • Analysis, interpretation, and reporting of information.
  • Data analysis with tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, or R.
  • Consultation with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose wireframes for reports and/or dashboards.
  • Proposes new and unique ideas to approach reporting and/or data request needs, including possibilities for visualization.
  • Creates up-to-date documentation and records.
  • Carefully evaluates pros/cons of solutions and proposes appropriate decisions/solutions.
  • Provides updates on tasks via status reports in written, verbal, or graphical form.
  • Implements results of projects into regular workflow, including regular team updates and meeting project timelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Science, Business, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of one year practical, related experience in data analysis.
  • Experience with data tasks like analysis, report creation, and visualization.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, R, or Python.
  • Ability to break down a complex problem into smaller parts and solve using logic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to set priorities, stay organized, and meet deadlines required.
