An internship is a temporary position within Solventum. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 10-12 week assignment during summer 2025. This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Data Science Intern, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leveraging expertise to develop and contribute to data visualization and data science efforts in support of new product development and sustaining innovation for physical products in the healthcare arena
- Building and deploying machine learning models to accelerate R&D and related business decision-making
- Integrating machine learning into simulation-based models from a variety of scientific and engineering disciplines
- Collaborating with R&D teams in central research and in business labs to build capabilities and applications to solve emerging challenges in healthcare
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in a physical science, biological science, or engineering discipline with a focus on data science or machine learning.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Experience scripting (R, Python, Golang, shell)
- Strong scientific and technical acumen, with demonstrated interest and ability to make connections between science/technology and real-world concerns
- Experience with the application of data science methodologies to healthcare-related applications
- Ability to deal with the ambiguity of early-stage scouting and evaluation of new opportunities and the flexibility to change direction as additional information becomes available
- Leadership qualities such as excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation), networking skills, self-motivation, and self-direction.
Work location:
Hybrid: Location Maplewood, MN 2-3 days/weeks
Relocation: Not authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
