Data Scientist
Energize Your Career: Are you ready to be at the forefront of the clean energy revolution? MetOx International, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist I to join our dynamic team and play a vital role in reshaping the future of power generation and distribution.
Based at our global headquarters in Houston, TX, the Data Scientist I supports data-driven decision-making across our operations. This early career role focuses on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex data sets to help improve our production processes, optimize resource allocation, and enhance product performance. This position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Collection & Analysis
- Gather, clean, and preprocess data from multiple sources to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, trends, and relationships within production and operational data.
- Modeling & Machine Learning
- Develop and implement statistical and machine learning models to solve operational challenges, such as predictive maintenance and process optimization.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to deploy data-driven solutions that improve efficiency and quality.
- Reporting & Visualization
- Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights and findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prepare reports summarizing data analysis results, with clear recommendations based on data insights.
- Collaboration & Continuous Learning
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into data science objectives.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in data science to enhance personal and team capabilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience in data science, data engineering, or relevant field in a co-op, intern, or professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science (Python or R).
- Familiarity with data visualization concepts and data processing libraries (Pandas, NumPy).
- Basic understanding of machine learning techniques and model evaluation methods.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and proactive, with a desire to learn and grow in the field of data science.
Physical Demands: This position requires sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods while working or performing other office tasks. Ability to move around the office, including occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents, attend meetings, or use office equipment. Some light lifting may be required, up to 20 lbs.
