We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Data Scientist to support Tempus NEXT, an AI-enabled care pathway intelligence platform that applies technology, data, and AI to enable precision medicine, empowering providers to tailor the next step in a patientโ€™s care journey and foster value based care within health systems. The Data Scientist will collaborate closely with product, operations, engineering, data science, and clinicians to provide best in class analysis of oncology care pathways and contribute to technical product requirements with supervision from senior scientists.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze real world data of care pathways to inform algorithm development and provide insights to current standard of care prior to Tempus Next interventions for providers and sponsors.
  • Contribute to technical product requirements to define care pathway & decision tree algorithms.
  • Create and maintain reporting infrastructure to monitor product performance and overall data quality with support from engineering.
  • Stay updated on methodological advancements in oncology guidelines and ongoing clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with internal product, engineering, oncology, bioinformatics, and clinical abstraction teams to continually enhance Tempus data quality and feature builds for Tempus Next.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company procedures.

Required Experience:

  • Degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, clinical informatics, public health, or related fields. Entry level PhD, Masterโ€™s degree +1 or more years relevant work experience or Bachelor's + 3 or more years relevant work experience accepted.
  • Proficient in SQL, R or Python, especially relevant statistical tools and packages.
  • Familiarity with real world data sources such as EHR systems or claims databases.
  • A collaborative growth mindset, coupled with a genuine eagerness to learn and a steadfast dedication to maintaining integrity in all endeavors.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Familiarity with analyzing oncology clinical data.
  • Familiarity with DBT workflows.
  • Familiarity with creating and maintaining BI dashboards; Looker experience nice to have.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques, with an understanding of the strengths and limitations of various approaches.
  • Proficiency in navigating large, complex problems within a fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail coupled with a commitment to delivering analytics of the highest quality and punctuality.
